Businesses are heavily investing in hybrid cloud models. According to the 2022 Cisco Hybrid Cloud Trend Report, 82 percent of survey respondents reported adopting a hybrid cloud, and 92% of companies use more than two cloud providers. As the data on the cloud continues to grow, the issue of cloud data storage becomes more complex.
To help solve this challenge, Hitachi Vantara announced a new hybrid cloud approach to data storage. The new platform, Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One, was unveiled today. This single hybrid cloud platform will allow businesses to run different types of applications anywhere – on-premises and in the public cloud. This is achieved by eliminating data, infrastructure, and application silos. It empowers businesses to consume data as they need it, when and where they need it.
Hitachi Vantata is the modern infrastructure, data management, and digital solutions subsidiary of Hitachi, Ltd. It delivers intelligence data platforms and digital experts that support more than 80 percent of the Fortune 100. Earlier this year, Hitachi Vantara unveiled a scalable hybrid cloud solution in partnership with Microsoft.
The timing of the announcement has come at a critical time for organizations as artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud are reshaping how enterprises operate and innovate. The data-intensive applications are already straining the cloud infrastructure and this problem is only going to get worse with more data.
According to a report by Hitachi Vantara, 75 percent of businesses say their data infrastructure won’t scale and 68 percent believe that they lack the resilience required to survive ransomware attacks. The introduction of Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One will help ease some of the key challenges.
“Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One marks a significant milestone with our infrastructure strategy. With a consistent data platform, we will provide businesses with the reliability and flexibility to manage their data across various storage environments without compromise,” said Dan McConnell, senior vice president, product management for storage and data infrastructure, Hitachi Vantara. “The design, development, and construction of Virtual Storage Platform One, with a focus on reliability, security, and sustainability, further enhances the impact for our customers.”
With the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One, users can rapidly consume advanced data services like replicating at cloud-scale, without the need for back-end manual work. They also get the ability to assign and rebalance workloads as conditions change. This allows for intelligent workload management to help optimize storage pools. In addition, organizations get access to integrated copy data management for global availability and superior fault tolerance with impacting performance.
With its simplified approach to the management of business-critical workloads at scale and the ability to deliver unified architecture, the Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform One will help businesses scale data and modernize applications across complex distributed hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructure.
