BigID Expands Capabilities with New Features to Enhance Security and Compliance

BigID, a company specializing in data security, privacy, compliance, and AI-driven data management, has revealed several advancements focused on improving cloud security, enhancing compliance measures, and reinforcing data protection.

The New York-based company launched Data Activity Monitoring for real-time tracking of user activity across structured and unstructured data. The goal is to empower organizations to identify risks proactively, respond swiftly to potential threats, and enhance regulatory compliance.

As part of BigID’s Data Detection & Response (DDR) suite, this new offering is designed to help organizations mitigate the risk of data breaches and strengthen their overall security posture. Using this tool businesses can monitor “who is accessing data, when, how, and what they’re doing with it”.

According to Dimitri Sirota, CEO of BigID, Data Activity Monitoring provides organizations with enhanced control and visibility over their data. It allows businesses to track how sensitive data is accessed and used, enabling them to implement appropriate controls.

Key benefits of this new offering include improved access controls, simplified security investigations, enhanced accountability, and contextual insights that drive informed decision-making regarding security and risk management.

Earlier this week, BigID announced its new Compliance Dashboard built to simplify and enhance compliance management across the organization. The solution is built to support multiple regulatory frameworks, allowing organizations to identify and remediate compliance gaps in real time.

The Compliance Dashboard offers automated control assessments with prioritized alerts for failed controls. The solution also offers actionable insights for remediation allowing teams to quickly resolve specific risks. Additionally, the dashboard offers customizable reporting and supports large-scale compliance management across on-prem and cloud environments.

“Organizations today need more than compliance visibility—they need actionable insights and seamless remediation capabilities to navigate the complexities of modern regulatory frameworks,” Sirota stated in the press release.

“The Compliance Dashboard provides a transformative way for security teams to help meet compliance requirements and actively improve their security posture, reduce risks, and accelerate compliance processes.”

AWS has recently garnered attention with its re:Invent 2024 conference in Las Vegas. Following this event, BigID has announced expanded integrations with AWS tools including AWS WorkDocs, Neptune, RDS, and EBS.

The integrations are aimed at improving data discovery and protecting sensitive data. AWS has also introduced new scanning features such as dual-scanning for Amazon RDS, to facilitate the efficient identification of sensitive data without interrupting business operations. These updates are designed to enhance security, ensuring organizations can manage their data risks while maintaining compliance with relevant regulations, including GDPR, HIPAA, and CCPA.

In a move that helps validate BigID’s technology, the company announced a significant milestone by earning the AWS Graviton Ready designation. This program is designed to help customers accelerate the adoption of AWS Graviton, a series of custom-built server processors that AWS introduced in 2018. The designation is awarded to technology vendors whose solutions are optimized to run on AWS Graviton processors.

According to BigID, the designation reflects the company’s commitment to helping organizations reduce costs and optimize cloud operations. BigID claims that the Graviton-optimized scanning technology can reduce compute costs by up to 30%. the AWS Graviton Ready program allows for an efficient transition from existing deployments to Graviton-powered instances.

“BigID’s AWS Graviton support enables organizations to optimize their data discovery and classification while reducing costs,” said Connie Dodmead, Sr. Director, Partner Management at BigID.

“This integration demonstrates our commitment to delivering cloud-native solutions that help organizations protect and manage sensitive data across their AWS environments more efficiently.”

The series of enhancements announced by BigID further strengthens the company’s commitment to advancing data security, compliance, and privacy across organizations. However, the effectiveness of the new offerings will depend on how they meet the needs of diverse enterprises in a rapidly changing data environment.
