RelationalAI Debuts Powerful Knowledge Graph Coprocessor for Snowflake Users

Despite advances in cloud data storage and computing power, enterprises have struggled to create intelligent applications with the capability to observe, decide, and act on data that resides within those environments.

RelationalAI, a startup that applies AI directly to relational data, claims to have found a solution to address this challenge. The California-based startup announced at Snowflake Data Cloud Summit 2024, the public availability of its Snowflake Native App on Snowflake Marketplace.

The offering, which was previewed last year, enables enterprises to combine knowledge graphs with GenAI technologies to get more value from their data and enhance their decision-making processes.

Designed to act as a “coprocessor” housed inside Snowfalke’s AI Data Cloud, the new app brings advanced knowledge and business logic directly to the data storage environment. As data remains within the Snowflake Data Cloud, RelationalAI can tap into the benefits of always being in sync with the enterprise data.

According to RelationalAI, housing the data within the same environment enables users to apply various AI techniques to solve business problems, such as supply chain optimization for logistics providers, fraud detection for e-commerce and financial services companies, and contextual recommendations for online retailers. Users can also benefit from this technology by performing rule-based reasoning, graphs, prescriptive, and predictive analytics on their data.

The launch of the new app marks a significant step forward in its collaboration with Snowflake. The two companies began their partnership in 2022 with the goal of revolutionizing enterprise AI decision-making by combining Snowflake’s data cloud capabilities with RelationalAI’s advanced AI-driven relational database technology.

The distinct advantage offered by RelationalAI centers on its advanced relational knowledge graph (RKG) technology, which enables the representation and analysis of complex data points. RelationalAI’s knowledge graph system is seamlessly integrated with Snowflake’s Data Cloud, allowing users to build and deploy AI apps directly within the Snowflake environment.

The deep integration allows Snowflake users to access advanced AI and ML tools without needing to move data outside the Snowflake environment. RelationalAI users can scale their AI applications using Snowflake’s robust data warehousing and cloud infrastructure.

RelationalAI shared a success story from one of the early adopters of its AI coprocessor – Block Inc.’s Cash App, which uses the new app to identify customer needs and analyze patterns to derive valuable insights.

Snowflake is one of several companies that have shown confidence in RelationalAI, which has raised $122 million in funding from investors including Menlo Ventures, Addition, Tiger Global, and Madrona Venture Group.

According to former Snowflake CEO Bob Muglia, who is both an investor and board member at RelationalAI, the emergence of LLMs has transformed the computing landscape, and the effectiveness of the language models can be further amplified with the combination of relational knowledge graphs and cloud platforms. Muglia believes this combination “will define the future of computing, unlocking powerful capabilities and giving organizations new superpowers.”
